A prime example of medieval coastal woodwork architecture, dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Information
This temple stands out for its Sabhamandap (main hall), which is supported by intricately carved, thick wooden pillars depicting mythological scenes and floral motifs. The acoustics inside the temple are designed to amplify the chanting during aartis.
Historical Reference
The temple is attributed to the Somavanshi Kshatriya community who settled in the coastal regions centuries ago. It survived the tumultuous periods of Siddi and Portuguese coastal raids due to its location deep within the village settlement.
