A memorial shrine marking the ancestral home of the Bhat family, founders of the Peshwa dynasty.
Information
Unlike traditional temples, this site functions more as a historical shrine. It features a life-size statue of Balaji Vishwanath Bhat, the first Peshwa, installed on a pedestal. The site is maintained by local heritage committees and includes small informational plaques about the Maratha Empire.
Historical Reference
Balaji Vishwanath was born in Shrivardhan. He rose from being a local administrator here to being appointed the Peshwa (Prime Minister) by Chhatrapati Shahu in 1713, effectively changing the course of Indian history. This monument honors that incredible ascent.
